A song for the grieving. Written in memory of an old friend on the 20th anniversary of his passing from AIDS. He died on October 31st, 1995. Yes. All Hallows Eve/Samhaim/Halloween. Samhain (meaning, 'summer's end') is the Celtic festival that honors ancestors and the recently deceased. i used the imagery of ceremonies that centre around remembering those who passed before.
lyrics
In hard times
When we can't comfort each other
and we feel kinda alone
This is what I like to do....
I like to stand by the fire
I thought of you today
The Summer Sun fades away
The season's end.
Crossroads of life and death
I recall your final breath
Light gives way to the dark
To know, to will, to dare
I remain quiet
I know you're there
The tears flow defiant
Calming rainfalls on my face
Silent Summer
The words of Winter fill the air
The Mighty Dead live again
I feel the love from souls long gone
Hearts born again
My spirit strong
At the Summer's End
Time seems to stand still
Empowered by my will
My demons die
In death there is life
No day without night
See through the veil
Be at peace
Candles lit black white and red
Table set for honoured guests
Sit down for the feast
All chairs empty save for mine
Silent Summer
The words of Winter fill the air
The Mighty Dead live again
I feel the love from souls long gone
Hearts born again
My spirit strong
At the Summer's
(solo)
Silent Summer
The words of Winter fill the air
The Mighty Dead live again
I feel the love from souls long gone
Hearts born again
My spirit strong
At the Summer's End
This is what like to do
I like to stand by the fire.
